Ad Lib Gallery is pleased to present Thirty Suns, Four Seasons, a solo exhibition by multi-disciplinary artist Kezia Blain. Opening on the occasion of her thirtieth solar return, this immersive show functions as both a visual diary of three decades of life and a reflection on the temporal cycles embedded within nature.

Deeply connected to her immediate surroundings, Blain uses South West London landscapes as her primary creative workspaces. Rooted in settings such as Wimbledon and Wandsworth Commons, she uses her time outdoors to write poetry, capture her environment, and gather natural materials to use in her artwork.

To channel the energy of these surroundings, she pairs fine art photography with highly transient, Polaroid film/camera-less processes including Prussian blue cyanotypes and colourful lumen prints. Because these alternative methods rely entirely on passing moments of daylight or chemical reactions, the temporary nature of her process directly mirrors the impermanence of her subjects. Through these combined mediums, she translates fleeting observations into images of changing trees, shifting shadows, birds in flight, butterflies in flux and abstract floral imagery bursting with glowing tones.

Arranged by season, the exhibition acts as a timeline of these walks. By taking the time to truly absorb and connect with the language of the natural world, Blain uses her writing to process what these environments teach her, offering a personal perspective on life's transitions. Autumn releases, Winter rests, Spring revives, Summer radiates. Just as the earth moves through vital stages of blooming, shedding, and rebirth, Thirty Suns, Four Seasons invites us to slow down and practice the art of noticing.
